After a very grey winter in the UK, the weather in the Alps at this time of year is a balm - the sun is shining, the air is warmer and the days are longer. The snow conditions are exceptional, we had plenty of fresh snowfall during February and the warmer weather means soft, grippy snow, none of the ice that we all hate! Boutique Recommends....Best Lunch in Les Gets - La Boutique Recommends....Best Lunch in Les Gets - La Paika! Now, if you're a regular to Les Gets then you will have certainly heard and (I hope!) dined at @LaPaika- it's a local legend and a perfect spring lunch stop. The terrace is huge, although when we were here at half term it was dumping with snow! But this is the spot to soak up the afternoon's sunshine, dine on meat straight from the grill and spend a while choosing your dessert from the table...or you can take our kid's advice and choose your dessert as soon as you arrive - they keep adding new ones when they run out, so it's a tactical process! Throw in a glass of rose or fizz, a quick trip back up the drag lift for a final run down into the village and there you have a perfect afternoon of 'skiing' in Les Gets!#lesgets #lovelesgets #boutiquerecommends #lapaika #mountainrestaurants #frenchalps #portesdusoleil
Happy Half Term!! If you're staying in the Portes Happy Half Term!! If you're staying in the Portes du Soleil this week then here are our tips for getting a little off the beaten track and avoiding the crowds...you really don't have to go far to find quieter pistes and little more peace ✌️ And if you buy a Portes du Soleil ski pass these are all included!1+2. Head to some of the lesser-known villages of the Portes du Soleil....for stronger skiers, you could head over to the Swiss villages, via Avoriaz/Chatel or alternatively St Jean d'Aulps and the Roc d'Enfer ski area is a 15 minute drive from Morzine and offers a fantastic circuit of red/blue runs. There's a very sunny plateau with a large beginner area, so if you are a mixed-ability group this is a great option...3. Mont Chery is the ski area on the sunny side of Les Gets - you just need to walk across the village to the separate bubble - head up here for quiet pistes, traditional cosy restaurants and some great reds and blacks for more experienced skiers!4. Mont Caly - for the non-skiers in your group, or for an afternoon off, head out for a snowy stroll and a vin chaud or hot chocolate at Les Chevrelles with a stunning view of Mont Blanc...just a 15 minute drive from the centre of Les Gets, or a walk from the top of the Mont Chery bubble, you can escape all the crowds and find peace on the mountain...#skiotbt #offthebeatentrack #luxuryski #lovemorzine #morzine #frenchalps #portesdusoleil #lovelesgets #lesgets #frenchalps #montchery #montcaly #rocdenfer #mountainlife #livingataltitude
