Morzine & Les Gets in the summer have a plethora of outdoor activities for entertaining the whole family. Get ready to try something new and explore the great outdoors… Here are a few ideas to get you started!

ACTIVITIES

Parc Des Dereches

Located in the heart of Morzine and within easy walking distance of many of our chalets, the Parc des Dereches offers a multitude of activities, including tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, horse riding, a treetop adventure course, indoor ice skating rink, a skate park and basketball court. The treetop adventure course is great fun and even has a ‘P’tit Kid circuit’ for the smallest family members (2 years and up). Guided horse rides with Morzine Equitation are also popular with many groups and take you on a loop through the park during a 60 minute session. The swimming complex is also impressive whether you wish to exercise or simply relax on the grassy ‘beaches’ while the children make the most of the pools, waterslide, bouncy castle and beach volleyball on offer.

Lac Des Ecoles & Wibit Waterpark

The Lac des Ecoles, just a couple of minutes’ driving up from the main town of Les Gets, is open throughout the summer months for swimming and lakeside activities. As well as beach volleyball and table tennis set up alongside the lake, there is also an inflatable obstacle course on one half of the lake, called Wibit, which is great fun for children (aged 4+) and adults alike.

Alta Lumina

Originally set up in summer 2021, this night-time light-show was so popular that it was decided to extend the experience and it has remained in place ever since. A night-time walk through the woods just above the Lac des Ecoles in Les Gets, you will discover a story told through the medium of light and music. Just as enchanting for adults as it is for children, this is a wonder for the senses and suitable for all ages.

White Water Rafting, Via Ferrata, etc.

There are lots of options for outdoor activities for those who want to try something a bit different, such as white water rafting, canyoning, rock climbing, via ferrata, and so on. There are a number of different companies who offer these activities in the area, but we would choose Frogs Rafting for their friendly and personal service, and fun instructors. These activities let you see the area and beautiful surroundings from quite a different perspective, and there is no need to have done any of these activities before as the instructors can amend the activity to be either leisurely and relaxing or full on and adrenaline-pumping for those who want to be pushed out of their comfort zone!

Zip Line

For those looking for an adrenaline rush, the ‘Fantasticable’ zip line involves two separate zip lines crossing the Plaine Dranse valley, each more than a kilometre in length. You can reach this easily from Morzine by driving up to the Lindarets goat village (also a great lunch stop and fun to mingle with the many friendly goats wandering through the village!) and taking the Chaux Fleurie chairlift up in the direction of Chatel. The zip line starts from the top of this chairlift, going over the other side of the valley.

Paragliding

For those who want to see the mountains from above, there are numerous companies who run paragliding tandem flights which will see you glide through the air with an instructor and view the best parts of the Portes du Soleil with a birds-eye view.

Chamonix (1hr)

Sitting prettily under Mont Blanc, Chamonix is often termed as the capital of the Alps, and is a vibrant resort in winter and summer alike. Many visitors choose to go up the Aiguille du Midi cable car (3842m) for the impressive views over Mont Blanc, Chamonix and the surrounding area.

Annecy (1hr30min)

Charming and full of medieval history, the old town of Annecy is perched on the edge of the picture perfect Lake Annecy. Wander through the cobbled streets and along the canals which thread their way through the old quarter, you can enjoy shopping, excellent cuisine, or a spot of sunbathing on the ‘beaches’ of Lake Annecy.
