Summer Event: Harley Days
11th to 14th July 2024
The Harley Davidson Owners Group, or HOG for short, keep us keen by only coming to Morzine every other year, but 2024 will thankfully see what has become a well loved and anticipated staple of the events calendar return, with ten thousand bikes roaring through town from the 11th to the 14th July.
Don’t Come for the Peace and Quiet
With ten thousand Harley Davidsons in town, Morzine is transformed from a peaceful Alpine village into a full blown leather clad festival celebrating everything there is to love about Rock music and American motorcycle culture.
The familiar gentle rumblings of the Dranse river are replaced with the roar of the V-twin engine as the bikes head out on organised rides and stop in town to give festival goers a good chance to get up close and personal with these amazing machines.
More Than Just Bikes
Don’t be mistaken, this event is all about the iconic Harley Davidson Motorcycle, there’s a museum, bike inspired parades, ride outs, custom bike demonstrations, a tattoo shop and a myriad of Harley themed market stools, but there is plenty to get excited about for those who aren’t necessarily aficionados of the Harley.
For three full days, this typically peaceful alpine setting comes alive with the sounds of live music and a festival atmosphere, birdsong is replaced by the twang of electric guitars and this event has been known to draw some heavy weight acts over the years, Status Quo, Queen covers, and Supertramp to name a few. The village square is transformed into an open air concert hall and although we don’t quite have our hands on the lineup for this coming event yet, a “Dire Straits experience” has already been confirmed, and watch this space for more big names!
There are sure to be food and drink stands at every turn, alongside the fantastic selection of restaurants and bars that Morzine already has to offer.
Barbecue comes with the territory so expect hot dogs, barbecue ribs, fries and burgers, all accompanied by the more traditional savoyard specialities like raclette and tartiflette and you’ll be sure to find your fill of beers and cocktails to enjoy in front of the aforementioned live entertainment.
A True Sense of Shared Interest and Camaraderie
With all of the above taken into account and to be anticipated, there is always one aspect to this truly international festival which goes without saying, the atmosphere is electric and there is a huge sense of shared passion and group camaraderie around town every time Harley Days rolls in, it’s a truly exciting and unique experience which we would recommend to anyone.
